Cape Ayamaru

Setting sun

Located in the northeastern area of Kasari, Amami City, this cape protrudes into the Pacific Ocean. It is said that the cape is named after its woven-patterned cotton ball, or an aya mari in Japanese. The visitors can enjoy a great panoramic view of the coral reefs around the cape with a jungle of Sotetsu trees (cycadophyte) spreading along under the observatory. In addition, Kikaijima Island appears on the east horizon on a fine day.
