Mangrove Forest
This park and facility is designed to introduce the undisturbed mangrove forest, and the ecosystem of the endangered Ryukyu Ayu (Ryukyu sweetfish) to visitors interactively. The facility has an exhibition of photos and models, as well as a theater show to educate visitors about the unique creatures on Amami Oshima. Their mangrove forest canoeing workshop is one of the most popular hands-on tours. The facility is registered as a national "Michi-no-Eki" of Amami Oshima Sumiyo, which serves as a hub for communication and transportation.
