Kuroshio no Mori Mangrove Park


This park facility is designed to introduce the virgin mangrove forest and ecosystem of the endangered Ryukyu Ayu (Ryukyu sweetfish) to the visitors through their interactions with the nature. The facility has an exhibition of photos and models as well as a theater program to educate visitors about the unique creatures on Amami Oshima. Their mangrove forest canoeing workshop is one of the most popular hands-on tours. The facility is registered as a national "Roadside Station" Amami Oshima Sumiyo, serving as a communication and transportation hub station.”
