Amami Forestopolis
The Amami Wildlife Center was established by the Ministry of Environment with the goal of aiding the preservation of the ecosystem and creatures of the Amami Archipelago. The facility utilizes videos and exhibits to help deepen understanding and interest in wildlife conservation. It is also active in leading research efforts about the rare wildlife that inhabit the islands, as well as the capture of the mongoose, an invasive species introduced by humans. The public may also use some of the exhibition space upon request.
